HS Varsity Girls Basketball – AIA State Tournament at Winslow HS

North Pointe Prep played a tough game against Winslow High School in the First Round of the State Tournament but lost 57-27. The Lady Falcons were led by Jalisa Garcia with 9 points and followed by Jasmine Langston with 7 points. Josh Martin and Michelle Olotu chipped in with 3 points apiece. The ladies accomplished a lot this year by attaining a winning season and an appearance in the State Tournament for the first time in about 7 seasons.
Belen Markus and Jasmine Langston are our only seniors who made great contributions to our team and they will be missed next season. We have 9 Juniors returning next season which will help us to make another trip to the State Tournament. “I am very proud of what they accomplished this season and look forward to their improvement and success next season,” said Coach Plaza.

Varsity Girls Basketball vs ASU Prep

North Pointe Prep defeated ASU Prep in their last home game this season on Senior Night 47-9. Our Seniors Jasmine Langston and Belen Markus were valuable players this year and previous seasons and were a pleasure to have on our team. The Lady Falcons were led by Jalisa Garcia with 13 points followed by Josh Martin with 10 points while McKenzie Mordhorst and Xena Benitez chipped in with 8 points apiece. ” The ladies finished the season strong with great defense and good shooting. It has been a great season for this team and they’ve accomplished a lot in a very short time. Congratulations Lady Falcons,”  said Coach Plaza.

Varsity Girls Basketball at Valley Christian

North Pointe Prep lost to Valley Christian 93-20. The Lady Falcons were led by Josh Martin with 6 points and followed by Jasmine Langston with 4 points. “They had a tough game missing some shots early in the game. Valley Christian is a very good team and all of their players can shoot and distribute the ball. The ladies played hard the whole game and will continue to get better,” said Coach Plaza.

Varsity Girls Basketball at Casteel
North Pointe Prep travelled to Casteel and defeated the Colts 34-16. The Lady Falcons were led by Jasmine Langston and Jalisa Garcia with 6 points apiece while Xena Benitez chipped in with 5 points. “The ladies played a good defensive game and they improved on some different aspects of the game. It was a total team victory as 8 of our 10 players all scored,” said Coach Plaza.

Varsity Girls Basketball at Yuma Catholic

North Pointe Prep played a strong game against a Top 10 team in the 3A Region Yuma Catholic but lost 42-34. The Lady Falcons were led by Jalisa Garcia with 13 points and followed by Jasmine Langston with 10 points. “They played great defense and moved the ball well on offense and in the end gave a very strong showing,” said Coach Plaza.

Varsity Girls Basketball at Fountain Hills

North Pointe Prep lost to Fountain Hills 72-37. The Lady Falcons were led by Xena Benitez with 11 points followed by Jalisa Garcia with 
9 points while Josh Martin chipped in with 8 points. “We were not sharp defensively and we made too many passing mistakes. We need to just regroup and continue to get better,” said Coach Plaza.

North Pointe Prep defeated ASU Prep 56-19. The Lady Falcons were led by Jalisa Garcia with 24 points followed by Michelle Olotu with 10 points while Josh Martin scored 7 points and Xena Benitez chipped in with 6 points. “Defense was our main ticket as we started off slow offensively but picked up some energy in the 2nd quarter. Our defense continues to improve while offensively 7 of the 8 players who played scored,” said Coach Plaza.

Varsity Girls Basketball vs Valley Christian

North Pointe Prep was defeated by Valley Christian 68-33. The Lady Falcons were led by Josh Martin with 13 points followed by Michelle  Olotu with 9 points and 6 rebounds while Mariah Albe played a great defensive game. “The ladies played hard the entire game but got off to a bad start with some sloppy passing and mental mistakes. We will regroup for next week’s games,” said Coach Plaza.

Varsity Girls Basketball vs Casteel

The Lady Falcons defeated Casteel with a strong defensive effort 41-30. North Pointe was led by Xena Benitez with 12 points followed by Jalisa Garcia with 10 points while Jasmine Langston had 7 points and Josh Martin scored 6 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. “They continue to improve defensively and shared the ball well. Their rebounding is also improving and they played hard the entire game,” said Coach Plaza.

Varsity Girls Basketball at American Leadership

North Pointe Prep defeated American Leadership Academy 57-21. The Lady Falcons had another strong defensive outing. Michelle Olotu led the scoring with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Jalisa Garcia scored 11 points followed by Mariah Albe and Jasmine Langston with 10 points apiece. “Everybody played extremely well on defense and Michelle Olotu played her best game this season. She was outstanding. I was very proud of everyone’s performance on both sides of the ball,” said Coach Plaza.
