The Falcons faced off against the Tonopah Valley Phoenix. Cody Hampson started on the mound throwing a 5 inning shut out with 5 BBs, 7 Ks and 0 earned runs. The Falcon defense had only 1 error. Colin Statt led the Falcon offense going 3-4 with a triple and 3 RBIs. Tyler Reddin had 3 key hits with 2 outs that kept each inning alive for the Falcons. The Falcons beat the Phoenix 14-0. “I’m happy with how we played today. Happy, but not satisfied. We will keep working hard and we will keep succeeding,” said Head Coach Corey Gow.
Today the Varsity Girls Softball team kicked off the regular season with an impressive 14-1 victory against the Phoenix of Tonopah Valley. Pitcher Reyna Caudillo added 9 strikeouts to her impressive early season total. Sophia Rabayada came in to slam the door in the 5th. Sierra Martin went 4 for 4 with 2 doubles and a massive triple. Cynthia Gil added two doubles of her own and went 3 for 4 on the day. “Moving from tournament play to the regular season, it was awesome to see the girls pick up where they left off and continue to build on early season success. It is important for us to continue to execute our game plan in order to see continued success,” coach Gil said after the victory.
Jr. High Track and Field opened its season with a meet at Valley Christian High School on Friday 3/4/16. The entire team did well setting solid baseline times from which to improve throughout the rest of the season. The boy’s 4×100 relay (Andrew Carson, David Adams, Alex Ibanez, and Gerald Vaughn) took an easy first place with a time of 54:10. Lazia Burks also placed first in both the 400m and the 200m. Madi Denton was awesome in the 1600m, while Matthew McGovern and Greg Aust both threw the shot put extremely well. Coach Johnson is “very happy with everyone’s performance in our first meet, and I look forward to watching these student athletes improve with each meet we attend.”
