Varsity Softball vs River Valley – AIA State Tournament

The North Pointe Falcons season came to an end as the Falcons lost 9-1. Sophomore pitcher Reyna Caudillo had 12 strikeouts and 2 assists. Sophomore Sara Strey scored a run on a hit and a stolen base. Sophomore Sophia Rabayda recorded a hit and an RBI. After the season Coach Gil said, “Overall, this was a season of ups and downs. Our highlights include a runner up trophy in the Carl Hayden Tournament and the deepest run into the state playoffs in school history. Our graduating seniors leave a legacy as the winningest in the programs history and that’s something all of us are extremely proud of. Looking forward to the future, we are still an extremely young team, by comparison and I expect us to be a tough out for everyone for years to come.”

Jr. High Track and Field at Camelback HS – Championship Meet

Six members of the Jr. High Track and Field team competed in the Great Hearts Championship Meet at Camelback High School. Kailyn Banks took a silver medal in the 100m hurdles with a time of 18.7 seconds. Chris Kohly advanced to the medal round in the shot put, throwing a PR of 28’1″. Grace Chapman also PR’d in the shot with a throw of 20’3″. “The athletes worked really hard to get to this meet, and I am proud of every single one,” said Coach Johnson.

Varsity Softball vs Payson – AIA State Tournament

The North Pointe Falcons won their opening round playoff game Saturday against Payson by a final of 6-0. Pitcher Reyna Caudillo had a complete game shut out, allowing just two hits over 7 innings. The scoring was started by Freshman Reyna Gil who drove in the games first run in the 4th inning. Carly Cabral had a run and an RBI while reaching base each time she stepped to the plate. “Today we executed the little things when we need to and got a great win for North Pointe softball. We hope to see a lot more fans next Friday as we continue our playoff run,” coach Gil said after the game.

Varsity Softball at ASU Prep

The Falcons won their regular season finale, beating ASU Prep by a score of 15-2. Senior Mandy Castro picked up the win in her final regular season game for North Pointe. Reyna Caudillo had a home run and 4 RBIs while Josh Martin and Cynthia Gil both scored 4 Runs. “I was happy for the seniors who worked so hard though some good season and not so good seasons to end their regular season in this fashion. Now it’s on to the playoffs and we hope to see a lot of falcon fans on Saturday,” coach Gil said after the game.

Varsity Boys Track and Field at Fountain Hills

The Varsity Boys Track and Field team participated at the Fountain Hills Friday Night Track Meet at Fountain Hills High School on April 21, 2017. Andrew Carson ran a PR in the 100 meter with a time of 12.33. David Vargas did an excellent job throwing with PRS in both shot and discus, throwing 36’4″ and 101’8″. “After a season full of hard work and countless hours on the track, our boys improved greatly and ended the season strong,” said Coach Norris.

Varsity Girls Track and Field at Fountain Hills

The Varsity Girls Track and Field team participated at the Fountain Hills Friday Night meet on April 21, 2017 at Fountain Hills High School. The 4 x 800 meter relay of Victoria Munoz, Mariah Albe, Ashiyah Wheeler, and Paula Dellinger once again beat the school record with a time of 10:57.33. They are 19th in Division 3. Ashiyah Wheeler placed 6th place in the 1600 meter with a time of 6:10.28. Danyelle Earl placed 6th in the 400 meter with a time of 1:06.29. “It was awesome to see the ladies dig deep and come away with several personal records. It is a great way to end a season,” said Coach Erickson.

Varsity Baseball vs Casteel

The Falcons faced off against the Casteel Colts. Orlando Chavez pitched 4 innings with 3 BBs, 0 K, 11 hits. The Falcon offense was led by Toby Wiley getting on base 2 times with a base hit. The Colts beat the Falcons 12-0. “I could not have asked anything more out of Toby, Orlando and Ethan. I appreciate all their hard work,” said Head Coach Corey Gow.
