JH Girls Cross Country Championships

On Saturday, November 3rd, 2018, the North Pointe Prep Jr High Girls Cross Country Team competed in the Great Hearts Middle School League Championship at Bullard Wash Linear Park. Sofia Ramos crossed the finish line with a time of 16:02 and came in 1st for the Falcons, placed 28th over all. Brianna Armer finished with a time of 17:13, placing 2nd for the Falcons, and 48th overall. Cassandra Bucerra finished with a time of 17:22, placing 3rd for the Falcons, and 54th overall. Coach Varner says, “These girls have worked hard all season long and left it all out on the course. I am so proud of all they have done and all they have accomplished this season!”

JH Cross Country Meet 6

On Saturday, October 27th, 2018, North Pointe Prep’s Junior High Girls Cross Country Team competed in the Great Hearts Middle School League Meet Number 6. All three athletes set a personal record in this meet. Sofia Ramos finished the race with a tome of 16:04, placing first for the Falcons and 31st over all. Brianna Armer crosses the finish line with a time of 16:20, placing 2nd for the Falcons, and 37th overall. Cassandra Bucerra finished with a time of 16:48, finishing 3rd for the Falcons, and placing 44th overall. Coach Varner says, “I am very proud of these girls. Their hard work is paying off!”

JH Cross Country Meet 4

On Saturday, October 6, 2018, North Pointe Prep’s Junior High Cross Country Girls Team competed in the Great Hearts Middle School League Meet 4. Sofia Ramos came in first for the Falcons, with a time of 16:28, placing 29th overall. Cassandra Becerra came in second for the Falcons with a time of 18:11, placing 50th overall. Brianna Armer came in third for the Falcons, with a time of 18:18, placing 51st overall. Coach Varner says, “The girls performed amazingly today. Their continous improvement is inspiring and I couldn’t be happier with how hard they are working in and out of practice.”

JH Cross Country Meet 3

North Pointe Prep’s Jr. High Girls Cross Country Team competed in the Great Hearts Middle School League Meet Number 3 on Saturday September 22, 2018. Sofia Ramos came in first for the Falcons, with a time of 13:30. She placed 25th overall. Brianna Armer came in second for the Falcons, with a time of 14:29. She placed 47th overall. Cassandra Becerra came in 3rd for the Falcons, with a time of 15:01. She placed 57th overall. Coach Varner says, “I am ecstatic at their performance in today’s meet. These ladies have been putting in hard work in practice and it definitely showed. I can’t wait to see their continued improvement as the season continues!”

JH Cross Country Meet 2

On Saturday, September 15, 2018, North Point Prep’s Jr High Cross Country girls team competed in the Great Hearts Middle School League meet number 2 at Espee Park. Sofia Ramos came in first for the Falcons, 20th over all, with a time of 16:37. Brianna Armer set a personal record, with a time of 17:31, securing 26th place over all. Cassandra Becerra also set a personal record, with a time of 17:55, coming in 38th place over all. Coach Varner says, “I am extremely proud of these girls! They have been working very hard in practice and it showed today. I am excited to see these girls continue to work hard, improve, and surpass their goals!”

Jr. High Cross Country – Championship Meet at Bullard Wash Park

The Jr. High Cross Country team represented North Pointe well in the Championship Meet at Bullard Wash Park. 8th graders Kailyn Banks and Frida Escamilla led the girls with times of 16:19 and 16:41 respectively, and 7th grader Nicolas Gamboa led the boys with a personal best time of 14:01. “Every athlete worked really hard and improved incredibly over the season, and they should be very proud of all they have accomplished,” said Coach Stephenson.

Jr. High Cross Country at Red Mountain Park

The Jr. High Cross Country team did well in their final regular meet of the season at Red Mountain Park. 7th grader Nicolas Gamboa led the boys with a 2.11 mile time of  14.50 while 8th grader Kailyn Banks led the girls with a time of 16:06. “The kids ran a strong race, and it will be fun to see how they compete in next week’s championship meet,” said Coach Stephenson.
