Varsity Cross Country – AIA Sectionals at Rose Mofford

The Varsity Cross Cross teams ran in the AIA Sectionals today at Rose Mofford. Paula Dellinger finished first for our girls and finished with a personal best. She finished 28th overall, only three spots out from qualifying for state.  Kimberly Roche Montes and Victoria Munoz also finished with personal bests. Noah Stroupe finished first for our boys and missed a personal best by a few seconds. Jacob Word set a new personal record. “Many of the athletes are participating in other sports the rest of the year and I challenged them to keep training through the summer so we can start next season where we left off this year,” said Coach Harrison.

Varsity Cross Country at Crossroads Park

Cross Country ran in an invitational at Crossroads Park against 30 different schools today.  The team ran excellent today, with 11 people getting personal bests.  For the boys, Jacob Wood, Roger Gallardo, Matt Rice, Shane Morris, Elijah Flannery, and Gabe Aguirre all had their best times ever.  For the girls Kimberly Roche Montes, Paula Dellinger, Olivia Aguirre, Emily Barkley, and Paloma Catalan all had their best times.  Olivia Aguirre finished 13th in her race and received a medal.  Emily Barkley finished 20th in her race and also received a medal.  For some of the runners this was their last race of the season and it was great to see them go out with a personal best.  About half of the runners will be competing in sectionals in 2 weeks with a chance to qualify for state.  “We will continue to work real hard in practice and anticipate seeing some more personal bests during sectionals and hope to have some runners qualify for state,” said Coach Harrison.

Varsity Cross Country at Cactus Shadows

Cross Country had a meet at Cactus Shadows today against Cactus Shadows and Notre Dame Prep. Noah Stroupe got first for our boys today with a season best of 21:02. Matt Rice, Elijah Flannery, Kevin Medina, Minh Nguyen, Jacob Wood, Shane Morris, and Israel Hurtado all had their best times of the season. Paula Dellinger was first for our girls and got a new personal best with a time of 25:07. Emily Barkley,, Nydia Villegas and Kimberly Roche Montes also had their best times of the season. “It is great to see the team continuing to improve on their times as the season winds down.  We will continue to work hard and hope to finish the season strong and see a few more personal bests,” said Coach Harrison.

Varsity Cross Country at Kiwanis Park

The Falcons ran in the Valley Christian Invitational against 20 other schools at Kiwanis Park. The team ran well tonight and we saw a lot of improvements in our times. Noah Stroupe beat his time by over three minutes and finished first for our guys. Mariah Albe finished first for our girls with Faith Guy not far behind. “We’ve been practicing real hard and it’s been great to see the hard work paying off during the meets,” said Coach Harrison.

Varsity Cross Country at Fountain Hills Park

Today the Falcon Cross Country team ran in the Fountain Hills Invitational at Fountain Hills Park. Nearly everyone on the team improved their times from last week. For the boys Israel Hurtado improved his time by over two minutes. Freshman Kevin Medina had a great run with a time of 23:16. For the girls Alena Cass improved by over six minutes and Faith Guy improved by almost four. “We have another meet on Wednesday that we hope to continue seeing better times,” said Coach Harrison.

Varsity Cross Country at Chandler Invite

Cross Country had the first meet of the season at Tumbleweed Park in the Chandler Invitational against over 40 other schools. The team ran well despite the humid weather conditions. Roger Gallardo had the best time for the boys with a time of 23:19. Mariah Albe had the best time for the girls with a time of 27:12. “Its good to get that first meet done so we know what time to beat next race. We are gonna work hard this week in hopes of decreasing our times,” said Coach Harrison.
