Varsity Boys Track and Field at Fountain Hills

The Varsity Boys Track and Field team participated at the Fountain Hills Friday Night Track Meet at Fountain Hills High School on April 21, 2017. Andrew Carson ran a PR in the 100 meter with a time of 12.33. David Vargas did an excellent job throwing with PRS in both shot and discus, throwing 36’4″ and 101’8″. “After a season full of hard work and countless hours on the track, our boys improved greatly and ended the season strong,” said Coach Norris.

Varsity Boys Track and Field at Valley Classic

On April 15, 2017 the Boy’s Track team competed at the Valley Classic at Alhambra High School. Minh Nguyen broke a six minute mile and had a PR of 5:49.81. Travis Evans won his heat in the 200 meter. He also improved his long jump and school record with a jump of 18’5″. “The boys competed well and fought through the heat and tough competition at today’s meet,” said Coach Norris.

Varsity Boys Track and Field at Fountain Hills

The Boy’s Track Team competed at Fountain Hills Monday Madness on April 3, 2017. Travis Evans came in third in the triple jump with a jump of 37′ 4 3/4″. He earned a medal for his place. He also jumped 18’2″ in the long jump, a new school record. Joey Faast earned a top 10 finish in the 1600 meter race with a time of 5:14:18. Our boys competed hard and improved in every area.

Varsity Boys Track and Field at South Mountain HS

The North Pointe Prep Boy’s Track team participated in the ALA Invitational at South Mountain High School on March 28th. Andrew Carson came in 20th place out of 45 runners in the 100 meter dash. Joey Faast led the way in the 1600 meter and 800 meter. He came in 12th place in the 1600 meter and won his heat. In the 800 meter, Joey placed 15th in a field of 37 with a time of 2:19. Travis Evans ran a 26.07 in the 200 meter and placed 11th place in the long jump with a jump of 17 feet 8 and three-quarter inches. Justice McCoy competed in the triple jump with a jump of 38 feet two inches, four inches short of the school record. “The boys showed grit and determination and set themselves up for better competition in the next meet,” said Coach Norris.

Varsity Track and Field at Last Chance Meet

Today the Falcons track and field team competed in the Last Chance meet at Alhambra High School. Once again the Falcons represented North Pointe well competing for the last time this season. Notable performances go to Alex Haw, Tyrice Murphy and Ashiyah Wheeler for breaking their personal records in the 200 meter run with times of 24.76, 25.59 and 31.14. Also to Nick Alley for finishing the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:02 and is now ranked 3rd all-time on North Pointes records for the event. And throwers Jacob Wilson for breaking his personal record in the shot put (27’ 8.00) along with Taylor Tames for breaking her personal record in the Discus (50’ 10.00).  “The team has worked hard all season. I am so proud of this group for what they have accomplished; their dedication has driven them to be not only great athletes but amazing individuals as well” said Coach Garcia.

Varsity Track and Field at Valley Classic

Today the Falcon Track and Field team competed in the Valley Classic Invitational at Alhambra High School. The Falcons represented North Pointe well competing against a talented field of athletes from 26 different schools from around the state. Notable performances were Nick Alley and Joseph Faast for their performances in the 1600 meter run, breaking their personal records with times of 5:02. Also, Bryce McGovern for finishing the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 18.05 and is now ranked second on North Pointe’s all-time school records in the event. The boy’s 4X100 meter relay posted a time of 47.20, 2.4 seconds away from qualifying for state. On the ladies side, Alexis Yanda and Victoria Munoz are also now ranked second and third on North Pointe’s all-time records in the 1600 meter run, earning times of 6:39 and 6:46. “The team performed well today, I’m proud of the progress that has been made thus far. I’m looking forward to our last chance meet next Wednesday” said Coach Garcia.

Varsity Track and Field at Phoenix Christian Multi

Today the Falcons Track and Field team competed in the Phoenix Christian Multi meet at Bourgade Catholic High School. The Falcons competed well against the eight other schools that were in attendance for the meet. Notable performances go to Alexis Yanda for breaking her personal record in the 1600 meter run finishing under the seven minute mark. Also, the boy’s 4X400 meter relay for finishing in second place. “I’m proud of the work that this team has put into this season thus far, and as we continue to improve I’m confident that we’ll reach our goals” said Coach Garcia.
