The Varsity Boys Track and Field team participated at the Fountain Hills Friday Night Track Meet at Fountain Hills High School on April 21, 2017. Andrew Carson ran a PR in the 100 meter with a time of 12.33. David Vargas did an excellent job throwing with PRS in both shot and discus, throwing 36’4″ and 101’8″. “After a season full of hard work and countless hours on the track, our boys improved greatly and ended the season strong,” said Coach Norris.
On April 15, 2017 the Boy’s Track team competed at the Valley Classic at Alhambra High School. Minh Nguyen broke a six minute mile and had a PR of 5:49.81. Travis Evans won his heat in the 200 meter. He also improved his long jump and school record with a jump of 18’5″. “The boys competed well and fought through the heat and tough competition at today’s meet,” said Coach Norris.
The Girl’s Track team competed on April 15, 2017 at the Valley Classic at Alhambra Classic. Ashiyah Wheeler came in 8th place and improved her time and the school record in the 1600 meter with a time of 6:07.46. Dany Earl placed 5th in the 400 meter, qualifying her for state, with a time of 1:04.56. Mariah Albe and Paula Dellinger placed 4th and 5th in the 800 meter with times of 2:39.55 and 2:42.09. “The ladies did a great job competing and creating new personal records,” said Coach Erickson.
The girl’s track team competed at the Hal Anders Invitational on April 8, 2018. The 4×800 meter relay team of Paula Dellinger, Victoria Munoz, Ashiyah Wheeler and Mariah Albe beat the school record which was 11:42.58. Ashiyah Wheeler beat her time in the 1600 meter and holds the school record with a time of 6:14, shaving off 5 seconds from her previous time. “The track team continues to improve their times and throws as they compete. It is exciting to watch the team gain new PRs each week,” said Coach Erickson.
The boy’s track team competed at the Hal Anders Invitational on April 8, 2017. Travis Evans competed in the triple jump. He jumped 39’2″, earning him a new school record and provisionally qualifies him for the state track meet on May 5. He now has school records in the long and triple jump. “Although we had numerous athletes performing new events, our young men competed hard and had a good showing today,” said Coach Norris.
The Lady Falcons ran at Fountain Hills Monday Madness meet on April 3, 2017. Mariah Albe came in second place in the 1600 Meter and now holds the new school record with a time of 6:15.35. Ashiyah Wheeler came in third in the 1600 Meter with a time of 6:19.93. Mariah and Ashiyah earned medals for their race. “It is exciting to see the athletes working hard and improving at the meets,” said Coach Erickson.
The Boy’s Track Team competed at Fountain Hills Monday Madness on April 3, 2017. Travis Evans came in third in the triple jump with a jump of 37′ 4 3/4″. He earned a medal for his place. He also jumped 18’2″ in the long jump, a new school record. Joey Faast earned a top 10 finish in the 1600 meter race with a time of 5:14:18. Our boys competed hard and improved in every area.
