Varsity Boys Soccer vs North Phoenix Prep

We played against North Phoenix Prep at Moon Valley tonight. We came out and played well from the beginning and won 8-0. Jacob Wood, Mario Montoya, Omar Escammila, Alex Ibanez, Chris Granados, and Muhammed Alkhakany scored goals today. We’ve been having some good practices of late and it was good to see the results on the field. We have an important game on Thursday and hope to continue playing well.

Varsity Boys Soccer vs Valley Christian

We played against valley Christian tonight at apollo. Im very proud of the way our guys played tonight. Everyone played real hard and had a real close game. Valley scored early but we scored a few minutes later off a great free kick from Mario Montoya that Jose Martinez connected with to tie the game up. We battled hard in the second half and came real close to scoring on a few occasions. Valley scored with 10 minutes left and won 2-1. It was unfortunate that we lost but I’m very happy with the effort. Now we just need to bring that same intensity for the rest of season when we get back from break.

Varsity Boys Soccer vs Glendale Prep at Moon Valley

We played Glendale Prep at Moon Valley tonight. We played well the first half and were tied 0-0. We gave up to many mistakes in the second half and lost the match, 4-0. Our keeper Brayan Juarez played great but we just let the other team have too many opportunities. “We play again tomorrow night and hope to cut down on the mistakes that we made tonight,” said Coach Harrison.

Varsity Boys Soccer vs Fountain Hills

We played Fountain Hills tonight at Moon Valley. We played hard all game, but lost 4-1. It was good to see us improve on some of the mistakes we made last game. We still have a lot to work on but this is a fun young group to coach. Freshman Simon Lopez made a nice shot from the top of the box and almost had another off the post. “We have a bunch of games in the next few days and hope to keep making improvements every game,” said Coach Harrison.

Varsity Boys Soccer at Casteel

We played our first game of the season against Casteel tonight. We played well the first half and were down 3-2 at halftime. We made too many mistakes and played flat the second half and lost 6-2. Mario Montoya scored both our goals. Freshman Simon Lopez played great in the back and had a nice assist to Mario. We have a lot of new young guys and have a lot of work to do. Tonight’s game showed us some areas that we need to work on and I think this group of guys is going to work hard to improve.

Varsity Boys Soccer vs Independence

We had our last game of the season against Independence tonight. They controlled the game and won 7-2. Freshman Omar Escamilla scored his first goal of the season and Christian Escobar scored another one. We had a good season and it was great being able to take down some bigger schools this year. I really enjoyed coaching this group of guys. The three senior captains Erick Padilla, Nick Alley, and Christian Escobar will be very hard to replace. They have been in the program since Jr. High and are huge reasons for our success. Despite losing these guys along with other key seniors the future of North Pointe soccer looks bright. “We have some great younger guys and even some 8th graders that will step in and continue with the success that we’ve had in the soccer program,” said Coach Harrison.
