Varsity Cross Country at Fountain Hills Park

Today the Falcon Cross Country team ran in the Fountain Hills Invitational at Fountain Hills Park. Nearly everyone on the team improved their times from last week. For the boys Israel Hurtado improved his time by over two minutes. Freshman Kevin Medina had a great run with a time of 23:16. For the girls Alena Cass improved by over six minutes and Faith Guy improved by almost four. “We have another meet on Wednesday that we hope to continue seeing better times,” said Coach Harrison.

Varsity Cross Country at Chandler Invite

Cross Country had the first meet of the season at Tumbleweed Park in the Chandler Invitational against over 40 other schools. The team ran well despite the humid weather conditions. Roger Gallardo had the best time for the boys with a time of 23:19. Mariah Albe had the best time for the girls with a time of 27:12. “Its good to get that first meet done so we know what time to beat next race. We are gonna work hard this week in hopes of decreasing our times,” said Coach Harrison.

Varsity Boys Cross Country at AIA Sectionals

Today’s sectionals race was at Cesar Chavez Park. All five of our guys ran great today and set personal records. Alex Haw got first for our team and improved his best run by 75 seconds. Bryce McGovern finished second and beat his time by 45 seconds. Frosh Omar Escamilla, Matt Rice and Roger Gallardo each improved their times by over a minute. “It was great to see the guys finish the season with such good times. They worked hard all season as their times show. Seniors Alex and Bryce will be missed next year but they both left their mark on the team,” said Coach Harrison.

Varsity Boys Cross Country at Northwest Christian Invite

The Falcons competed in the Northwest Christian Invite at Victory Lanes with Sedona Red Rock, Joy Christian, and Yuma Catholic. Bryce McGovern crossed the finish line first for North Pointe improving his time by 1 min and 15 seconds. Alex Haw also ran an impressive race improving his time by over 1 minute. “It was great to see the guys improve their times so much even though we had high temperatures at race time. It’s always good to see the guys that are putting in hard work during practice see the results in the meet,” said Coach Harrison.

Varsity Boys Cross Country at Skunk Creek Linear Park

Tonight’s meet was at Skunk Creek Linear Park. The Falcons ran against Verrado, Washington, and the host Apollo. We ran at Skunk Creek earlier this season and it was great to see the majority of the guys improve on their times. Alex Haw ran over a minute faster tonight with a time of 17:15 and Matt Rice improved by 40 seconds with a time of 18:10. Freshman Omar Escamilla has missed the first couple races but ran great tonight with a time of 18:20. “The team has been working hard in practice and it has been great to see their times drop as a result of their hard work,” said Coach Harrison.

Varsity Boys Cross Country at Moon Valley

Tonight’s meet was at Moon Valley HS was against Shadow Ridge, Cactus, and the hosts Moon Valley. Tonight’s meet was our first full 5k race. Our top 3 finishers were Justin Markus, Bryce McGovern, and Alex Haw, receptively. “We will be practicing hard to improve on our times from tonight,” said Coach Harrison.
