The North Pointe Prep Boy’s Track team participated in the ALA Invitational at South Mountain High School on March 28th. Andrew Carson came in 20th place out of 45 runners in the 100 meter dash. Joey Faast led the way in the 1600 meter and 800 meter. He came in 12th place in the 1600 meter and won his heat. In the 800 meter, Joey placed 15th in a field of 37 with a time of 2:19. Travis Evans ran a 26.07 in the 200 meter and placed 11th place in the long jump with a jump of 17 feet 8 and three-quarter inches. Justice McCoy competed in the triple jump with a jump of 38 feet two inches, four inches short of the school record. “The boys showed grit and determination and set themselves up for better competition in the next meet,” said Coach Norris.
The Falcon Girl’s Track team participated in the ALA Invitational at South Mountain High School on March 28th. On the girls side, Danyelle Earl placed 7th in the 100 meter with a time of 13.56. She also came in 3rd in the 400 meter, earning a medal, with a time of 1:08.88. Mariah Albe placed 7th in the 400 with a time of 1:10.88. She also placed 7th in the 1600 meter, running the race in 6:29.15. “The Lady Falcons ran well and gave it their all, winning several heats and setting the stage to compete well in their season,” said Coach Erickson.
Today the Falcons track and field team competed in the Last Chance meet at Alhambra High School. Once again the Falcons represented North Pointe well competing for the last time this season. Notable performances go to Alex Haw, Tyrice Murphy and Ashiyah Wheeler for breaking their personal records in the 200 meter run with times of 24.76, 25.59 and 31.14. Also to Nick Alley for finishing the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:02 and is now ranked 3rd all-time on North Pointes records for the event. And throwers Jacob Wilson for breaking his personal record in the shot put (27’ 8.00) along with Taylor Tames for breaking her personal record in the Discus (50’ 10.00). “The team has worked hard all season. I am so proud of this group for what they have accomplished; their dedication has driven them to be not only great athletes but amazing individuals as well” said Coach Garcia.
Today the Falcon Track and Field team competed in the Valley Classic Invitational at Alhambra High School. The Falcons represented North Pointe well competing against a talented field of athletes from 26 different schools from around the state. Notable performances were Nick Alley and Joseph Faast for their performances in the 1600 meter run, breaking their personal records with times of 5:02. Also, Bryce McGovern for finishing the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 18.05 and is now ranked second on North Pointe’s all-time school records in the event. The boy’s 4X100 meter relay posted a time of 47.20, 2.4 seconds away from qualifying for state. On the ladies side, Alexis Yanda and Victoria Munoz are also now ranked second and third on North Pointe’s all-time records in the 1600 meter run, earning times of 6:39 and 6:46. “The team performed well today, I’m proud of the progress that has been made thus far. I’m looking forward to our last chance meet next Wednesday” said Coach Garcia.
Today the Falcons track and field team competed in the Peoria Invitational at Peoria High School. The Falcons continue to improve as the season goes on and as a result, personal records continue to be broken. Notable performances go to Alex Haw for breaking his PR in the 100 meter run with a time of 11.73 and 200 meter run with a time of 25.30. Also, throwers Karac Jones, Nick Kohlerman, Aryan Wagoner and Taylor Tames showed significant improvements in the Shot put and discus events. Great Job! “I love the fight and determination of this team; they are relentless and accept the challenges ahead of them” said Coach Garcia. Great work Falcons!
Today the Falcons track and field team competed in the PUHSD Metro Relays Invitational at South Mountain High School. The Falcons performed well and showed a lot of heart out there by giving their best efforts in every event. Notable performances are Mckenzie Mordhorst, Haley Garcia, Faith Guy, and Ashiyah Wheeler placing in 6th place in the Sprint Medley Relay (100-100-200-400 meters) with a time of 2:13.81. “Everyone improved in all of their events, ultimately that is the goal; to improve every single time” said Coach Garcia.
