Varsity Football Crushes Valley Lutheran 68-0

Although North Pointe’s defensive unit plays in the shadow of the #1 rushing team in Arizona and #1 scoring team in the Nation (among teams that have played only 6 games) they continue to dominate opposing team’s offenses and crushed Valley Lutheran in the Falcons 68-0 win. It was their second shutout of the year.  The defense was led by Seniors Joe Soriano-Garfias’ (2 interceptions and a punt return touchdown) and Michael Zipprich (batted down 2 passes, recovered two fumbles and pressured the QB all night). The offense got rolling early behind Senior Nijel Rosado who scored touchdowns (47 yards and 51 yards) on the Falcon’s first two offensive plays from scrimmage. Rosado finished with 112 yards on 6 carries and 3 touchdowns. Soriano-Garfias also scored two rushing touchdowns and finished with 114 rushing yards. Coach Norris: Tonight was our first region game and our guys treated it very seriously. We dominated from the first whistle to the last and imposed our will on offense, defense and special teams. I am proud of how we played tonight and we will build on our success and move forward next week. One team, One Dream.
