Jr. High Track and Field at PVCC

Jr. High Track and Field Team competed in their championship meet Friday evening at Paradise Valley Community College. The boys’ 4×100 Relay team (David Adams, Patrick Olivares, Oscar Moreno, and David Hernandez) won the silver medal, as did David Hernandez in the 100 meter dash, coming in second with a time of 12.74 seconds. Hernandez, who took fourth place overall in the 200 meter dash, also set a new personal record in that event, shaving more than a full second off his previous time. Sprinter Nikki Gibbons and hurdlers Gerald Vaughn and Faith Henriksen also set personal records at the meet. “This has been a challenging and rewarding season,” said Coaches Alley and Johnson, who are sending several talented 8th graders to the High School team next year. “We will miss them of course, but we also look forward to next season with our returning and new athletes.”
