After a long season of ups and downs, the Lady Falcons were just too worn out from the previous night 2hr 45min game in Yuma.
Energy level was not at its highest at the start of the game and pitcher (So.) Mandy Castro needed to be removed from the game due to heat exhaustion, although still arguing for herself to stay in and finish. Taking nothing away from Wickenburg, they hit the ball well and their defense for on point that afternoon. As for the rest of the game, there really wasn’t a typical North Pointe fight in them that afternoon, nor did North Pointe ever get off the ground running in any particular inning. A last minute, “Ladies, let’s go down fighting” cry wasn’t heard unlike in previous games. Needless to say, the game ended in a 13-0 loss where Wickenburg HS earned the victory without argument and the toll of sickness and injuries could be seen a mile away. “All and all, I was proud of how the ladies held their heads high in defeat and kept looking forward for the next battle. Each player contributed against heavier stacked opponents this year, especially against the neck and neck losses. Respect for each other was visible as a team,” said Coach Gil.
