Jr. High Track and Field wrapped up its regular season with its final qualifying meet at Valley Christian on Saturday. The Boys’ Sprint Medley and 4×100 Relays (David Adams, David Hernandez, Oscar Moreno and Patrick Olivares) qualified automatically, as did the following boys individually: Hernandez in the 100 and 200, Olivares in the 200, and Adams in the 400. Provisional qualifiers include Moreno and Olivares in the 100, and Moreno and Gerald Vaughn in the 200. Vaughn was also a provisional qualifier in the hurdles. On the girls’ side, Alissa Clark qualified in the 1600, and Nikki Gibbons qualified in both the 100 and 200. Thrower Caitlin Johnson also qualified in the shot put and the discus. Girls who qualified provisionally are Naomi Yu in the 100 and 200, Mia Felix in the 100 and the 200, Faith Henriksen in the hurdles, and Jaidan Shaw in the 800. Coaches Alley and Johnson are extremely proud of how well the team has worked all season, and especially pleased with the qualifying performances at this meet. “We are looking forward to placing well in the championship meet next week and bringing several medals back to North Pointe,” said Coach Johnson.
