Varsity Softball vs Kingman Academy

The North Pointe Prep Falcons Softball team lost Wednesday’s home non-conference game against Kingman Academy by a score of 7-2. The Lady Falcons held a 2-0 lead throughout 5 innings and a 2-1 lead going into the top of the 7th inning. “Regardless of score, we looked cool and composed defensively, putting the pressure on Kingman Academy to make a comeback – defensively we looked sharp for the most part.” said Coach Gil. (Sr.) Kaley Southard batted 2-4 with 2 RBI’s and had 4 put outs and 2 double plays; (Sr.) Ashley Barragan was able to get herself on base 3 of 4 at bats and had zero errors in 15 put outs; (Sr.) Brittany Barragan went 1-4 and got on base 3 of 4 at bats, had only 1 error behind the plate and kept the runners at bay with only 1 stolen base; (So.) Mandy Castro pitched a complete game and batted 1-4. (Fr.) Cynthia Gil had 7 put outs, combined assisted double plays, and a number of hard shots at the 2nd baseman. (Fr.) Sierra Martin also put 5 put outs from the 3rd base position.  Unfortunately, 2 late inning errors with runners in scoring position allowed the Lady Tigers back into the game and eventually the lead was too far out ready for the Lady Falcons. “We had plenty of opportunity to run up the score with less than 2 outs and with runners on 2nd and 3rd or bases loaded; however, we ended the day stranding 7 runners with less than 2 outs – instead of NP finding a way to score more runs, in the end Kingman did.” said Coach Gil
