The North Pointe Jr. High Girls Soccer team played their first round game of playoffs yesterday, hosting the game at Rose Mofford. They played the Cicero Centurions, who they previously beat 4-0 earlier in the season. The game started out with the Centurions scoring first, within the first ten minutes of the game. But then North Pointe came back with a goal scored by Vanessa Webb to tie the game before halftime. After the half, the girls went back out on the field determined to win. Four minutes into the second half, Sara Strey scored a goal for the Falcons, which brought them to a lead where there was no turning back. Strey scored two more goals for the Falcons, winning the game with a final score of 4-1. Hannah Wellendorf played goalie, blocking several shots attempted by the Centurions. “We were very excited about how well the second half of the game went yesterday. The girls picked up their game because they knew they could win. We have a great chance of winning on Saturday, which shows that the girls have improved a lot this season,” said Coach Beam.
