Varsity Football vs Cortez

North Pointe Football fought hard for all four quarters in a physical home game Friday night versus Cortez High School. Wide receiver/running back David Martinez was very productive in the game rushing for 140 yards and one touchdown. Running back Gregory Underwood also rushed for a 22 yard touchdown late in the third quarter. Punter Nicholas Alley was a bright spot as he boomed the ball around the field on consecutive punts and kicked an extra point late to cap off another Falcon scoring drive. Defensively, the Falcons did give up some big runs but were successful at containing Cortez’s star quarterbacks break away speed on the edge. Cornerback Devon Stone-Savey made several touchdown saving tackles and had crucial pass break ups against Cortez’s top wide receiver. Coach Tony Diquattro said, “we fought hard and the players are buying into our fight to the finish mentality.”
